Pennsylvania jaunt
DK and I booked a very, very last-minute trip to visit his mother in western Pennsylvania for a long Memorial Day weekend. To accommodate both my loathing of flying and his loathing of seven-hour driving, we're taking the train. I'm only packing short-shorts and rather filmy shirts, given the sweltering temperatures we're supposed to see.
Our route takes us along the famous Horseshoe Curve by Altoona, PA--I say "famous" even though I'd never heard of it before, but DK (who is, rather adorably, a train-travel nerd) is all giddy about it.
Once we get there tomorrow night, I'm anticipating: plentiful small-town thrifting! expansive country antique malls! and delicious Pennsylvania beer! (Who knew there was such an active brewery scene there?)
Have a lovely (and hopefully similarly long) weekend, folks! I'll see you on the other side!

This is so great. Not only do I have a fellow hater-flyer, but I could totally relate to DK's giddyness. LOVE trains, good for you! Have fun!
ReplyDeletehave fun! hope your train ride isn't too long and boring. we're sticking around the city this weekend.
ReplyDeletehave fun! i love riding trains, it feels so, i dunno, filmic. and in my limited experience, PA has amazing thrifting gems, since there's no hip people for miles :-)
