BRB, loves. My flight to Lima, Peru, boards in 15 minutes. As soon as we touch down, we'll be sprinting to make our connection to Cusco. If the altitude doesn't lay us flat, we'll be roaming around Machu Picchu this weekend, which has been a dream of mine since I was, like, 8.
I'll try to take it easy with the pisco sours, but no promises.

Oh! oh oh! Best of wishes to you, how terribly exciting! Have so much fun!
ReplyDeleteso jealous!! I went with my best friend two years ago... the trip of a lifetime. be sure to drink some cocoa tea right when you get to cusco. eat light the night before and then also the next morning before flight to cusco. then when you get there, go to you hotel and take a like a four hour nap, seriously. by evening you will be ready to hit the streets which is totally fine because they come ALIVE at night. seriously the city glows. and its really safe to walk around the neighborhoods. keep and eye out for the millions of dogs who seem to have a highly developed social life amongst themselves. but take it EASY for the first six hours in cusco because the altitude is for real and everyone who didn't paid for it. we took the advice of this old peruvian doctor on our flight to lima and she told us what to do. have fun!!! pictures!
ReplyDeleteMelina: I'M ALREADY SO IN LOVE WITH THIS CITY, I JUST CAN'T DEAL.
ReplyDeleteJennifer: Thank you for the great advice! I'm on my second mate de coco of the day, and I have to say, I actually really like the taste (some friends told me it was completely unpalatable)! I'm so sad that I'll only be in Cusco for two days... I'm realizing that I could spend an entire week here easily and happily.
I've already seen hordes of dogs, and it's just incredible!! I've never see so many feral (?) breed dogs. I mean, I guess they're all mutts to some degree, but I've just never seen so many different kinds!
