We both miss it. Five days was pitifully short. Sigh. Next time.
And voila, my visual proof:

I somehow made it out of Morocco only buying two pairs of embroidered slippers, a tagine, some hand-blown drinking glasses, some fancy soap, a bag of dried hibiscus, a little bottle of argan oil, three geodes, and my glorious sequined wedding throw.
...Okay, I know that sounds like a lot, but seriously, that's not even one single airline carry-on's worth of stuff. I get a little mournful when I think about all the blankets and rugs and lanterns and ceramics and candles and spices I left behind.
Again: Sigh. Next time.

Yeah I can't comprehend visiting Morocco because of the otherworldliness. what is this wedding throw you speak of?
ReplyDeleteI'm going to take photos after I clean mine up (needs a good soak!), but it's a vintage handira, which Berber women wear as wedding-day shawls. They're handmade with thick, heavy wool, usually fringed bands throughout and embroidered with silver sequins. They are bee-yoo-tee-ful!
ReplyDeleteSounds like an amazing trip, Jay! Lucky you! And some beautiful shots. I love the last one a lot. Happy Spring! Amanda
ReplyDeleteOh, how I'd love to visit Morocco.
ReplyDeleteWow, beautiful pictures! I was in Marrakesh last summer and know how you feel. I just wanted more. Now I am eagerly looking for bedding that will remind me of all of the kilim I couldn't drag back to the states to give me that same feeling of Moroccan desert bliss.
